Shackleford Banks Trip April 17

Please help clean up this entire island along its 13 mile ocean beach front and along the sound side and in the middle along the trails made by our wild horses.

Just show up at The Local Yokel  Ferry in Harkers Island at 9:00 AM on April 17 or 18 and again on the 24th or 25th.. Get a free ride over. See the horses as you remove the litter we have discarded on their habitat.

Or, paddle over there in your own kayak or canoe any time.. Pick up a few bags. Leave them on the sound side above the high tide line.

Dave Carney, Resource Education Park Ranger and Dr Sue Stuska, Ed.D., Wildlife Biologist-Horses and all others in our National Park Service, Cape Lookout National Seashore, U. S. Department of the Interior, will appreciate it very much but, most of all, think about our wild horses. Let's get our man made litter off their dining room table and out of their bed rooms and out of their living rooms and off their playground.

And do it for our tourists, also, who come from all over the world to see our National Seashore Park and our wild horses. Let's send them home with fond memories of North Carolina uncluttered by litter.     Elmer
